Vacaville resident Matt Brock running for Congress

Two years ago, Matthew Brock ran for the Vacaville City Council to represent his community. While he ultimately did not win, it did give him a push to set his sights on an even bigger seat.

Brock is running in the newly drawn 4th Congressional District, which includes Vacaville. The decision to run came after seeing the new map and realizing that the new district was made up of communities he has been closely involved with. He grew up in Solano County, worked for Solano Irrigation District for 13 years and is currently an operations and maintenance supervisor for the Contra Costa Water District.

Retired Army Major, Vacaville resident running for Congress

FAIRFIELD — Retired Army Major Rudy Recile hopes his 33 years of military experience can sway voters to give him their support in the June election as a representative of the newly-formed 8th Congressional District.

“I’ve worked in the highest level of government in D.C. and I think my skills can be best served as a representative of the people to the government,” Recile said. “I want to bring some sense to the madness.” The Vacaville resident will try to unseat long-time representative John Garamendi, who has served in Congress since 2009. The new district encompasses much of Solano and Contra Costa counties…
